Ed Sheeran Thinking Out Loud – Acoustic Clip of the Month

This month’s diversion from home and auto insurance is a cool acoustic of Ed Sheeran Thinking Out Loud

I’m not really a “fan” of the British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, but I certainly appreciate some of his songs, and this song … and particularly this version of the song is pretty awesome.

As a singer-songwriter myself (one with below-average chops), I can certainly appreciate the unique quality of Mr. Sheeran’s voice, his control, and the cool rhythm he creates.

About the Song: Thinking Out Loud

From what I can find out, this song was a collaboration with Amy Wadge and was released in mid-2014. Originally the song was an “instant-grat” promotional item on iTunes in support of the release of Sheeran’s second album X. The song was released in the US in September 2014 where it cracked the top 10 in various charts. It actually reaches #1 in many international charts.

The song and album have received mostly positive reviews, with the Washington Post’s Allison Stewart declaring the song is “a blatant and mercilessly effective bid for “I’ll Be”-style wedding-song immortality. “I’ll Be” is obviously a reference to the 1997 hit by Edwin McCain. Jason Libshults of Billboard says Sheeran “pushes this bold stab at romance past its sappiest moments and ends the album on a likable note.”

The clip is actually from Ed Sheeran’s YouTube channel and from the Acoustic Sessions in support of the Album X where you can find the single. The quality of both the audio and video is awesome … much better than last month’s Blackhole Sun by Chris Cornell.
